You don't really turn ten all the time, and this website is not aging terribly bad as an original product of the summer of 2001.

That was when summers were special, and when we came up with the idea of posting an empty page that provided just the perfect shade of neon green to be extremely straining to the normal, healthy eye.

If you visited us ten years ago, you'd be easily disappointed. Apart from the glowing "Woodbridge Data Cafe" as the thick royal blue title, and the names of said page's authors, the experience was nonexistent. A link to a page with an outside link, and another to e-mail us.

This isn't the case nowadays, but it's interesting to look back on our years together so far. We were like Yahoo, but with no content at all. We couldn't even afford our web space, relying on the plethora of "free web hosts" that used to predominate the internet like social networking does today.

If you did bear with us, pop-ups and all, we did start to enter in some daring content that same year. Opinions were king in the cafe (as they still are, with this article as evidence). This might not have been a revolutionary idea, but it made sense to provide perspective that adds to the broader conversation.

These days, people use the internet mainly for communication, but a decade ago the idea was to provide reliable content - a sort of an accessible library of sorts. We wanted to add our titles to the shelf.

A young woman once told me that this website had a scattering of topics, and it's quite a random collection of articles. Two words explain this quagmire - personal interest.

Change brought what was a plain coloured mess into something that was more useful. Through the site, we have compiled ideas, facts, funnies and other fodder that has been covered purely from simple personal curiosity into what's involved.

It was a blog before blogs were common and widespread. Social networking but without the selfish aspect, and with more complete, everyday advice. Interviews that bring out the subject.

We're a federation, a mixed bag, a trail mix. And we're proud of this unique way of serving you.

Because we know life isn't just a uniform routine. And we want you to enjoy what we enjoy. We haven't changed that yet.
