Airport staff are an interesting breed.
Could it be that they're leading interesting lives at work?
Departure, the series, was the result of a very interesting question.
People from all backgrounds, purposes and motives choose to step in civilian aircraft. There are those travellers who go to other big cities to conduct business, and travellers who go to escape the normalcy of their home country. Some travellers go to visit family, while others take the trip to the airport just for the experience of flying.
Each traveller has their background, and interesting story behind their purpose of stepping on the plane in the first place. So, due to the demand of air travel nowadays, it's not so surprising that an accompanying group of staff who work for airlines, are needed.
This serial's motive is to answer the inevitable question when you mix the interesting stories of travellers to the interesting stories of airline staff. It's fascinating to wonder what kind of tales the ears of front counter staff get in such a polarising industry.
Of interruptions, cancellations and other unfortunate situations that have to be announced by the airline.
Of complaints, complements, suggestions for improvement from customers who sometimes seems to think they know more. Sometimes, it's true.
Departure aims to bring the art of conversation that people experience at the airport, whether they're travelling, or they're employed.
And the lives that are affected by it.
