Interview: Moreland & Arbuckle

What got this band together and started in this business?

AARON: Dustin and I met at an open jam in Wichita sometime in mid 2001. We started playing together a short time after. The rest, as they say, is history. Since that time we have been gigging regularly. Luckily we have seen an interest in our music.

Who writes and produces all the material for the band?

AARON: Both Dustin and I are the primary songwriters. In the studio, we have self-produced all of our records thus far.

Has the band played in front of or with any acts our readers would know from the mainstream?

AARON: Other than a few short stints with Paul McCartney and Slayer, we have not had a ton of mainstream tour projects.

Where can people access your music on the web?

Any embarrassing moments on stage?

AARON: One time at a gig in the Florida Keys, Brad crapped his pants. Ya, that was pretty embarrassing.

Who are the band's musical influences?

AARON: No one particular person. Blues, Punk/Stoner/Heavy Rock, Old Time Country/Bluegrass.

What is your musical background like?

AARON: We all come from different areas of music. Brad can read music a little. Dustin and IĘcan't read music at all. We have all played in various bands over the years.

Any other members in your family that are musicians?

AARON: Dustin and I fathers were both musicians.

What is the TOP reason why you want to play music?

AARON: Because it feels good.

What's your stance on file swapping?

AARON: Hard for me to decry file swapping as I have downloaded plenty of music. However, it does cost musicians money when people don't spend some dough on artists music.

What is the process of making a CD?

AARON: Going into the studio and hitting it hard.

How do you get the word out about your music?

AARON: Having a strong publicist helps. In addition, we collect e-mails at gigs and send out updates each month. We have been able to slowly cultivate a bigger following each year.

How is your local response to your music?

AARON: The interesting thing is that as we garner more popularity outside of the area, the more people around here seem to embrace our music.

What is the furthest you have traveled for a gig?

AARON: Iraq/Kuwait

What tune on the CD are you most proud of?

AARON: Fishin' Hole
