Interview: Slim Beezy |
What got you started in this business?
I was just chilling in my room, listening to instrumentals. As I started to perfect my craft, I did
get more serious as time went on.
Who writes and produces all of your material?
I write all of my own material, but when I use an R&B artist on my hooks, I usually let them do
their thing to shine. I do a lot of my own production also, but I do reach out to other producers
to get a more diverse sound.
Have you played in front of or with any acts our readers would
know from the mainstream?
I have opened up for Tyrese, Lyfe, and Boyz in the Hood.
Where can people access your music on the web?
I have made a major impact on the web and made my music available just about any site possible to
download music, inclining iTunes, Amazon, Napster, and also my website, www.slimbeezy.com.
Any embarrassing moments on stage?
Yea, I've rehearsed a song numerous times and no hick ups and turn around and done a show and
forgot the words to the song.
Any good stories you want to tell us?
With this "808 Luv" single, I took my time with it plus I released a video for it and all and took
the right steps this time for promoting and I actually landed a lot of interviews and shows from
just taking my time with it.
Who are the band's musical influences?
My musical influences I'd say are 2Pac, Pimp C, and Z-Ro.
What is your musical background like?
I sang in the youth choir in church and learned to play keyboard by ear. I wish I did take lessons
in piano and singing. Even though I rap, being able to sing or harmonize, adds more swag to your
material.
Any other members in your family that are musicians?
Yea all of brothers do music also and most of my cousins have their hand in music and some way.
What is the top reason why you want to play music?
To have the ability to have a gift that touches people in a positive way. I also enjoy walking up
in Wal-Mart and random people come up to you singing a song you put out.
What has been your best show?
Was at a local club I did, and the crowd was singing the song and doing some of the hand gestures
I did in the video when the hook came on.
