Interview: Don from Dream Aria |
What got this band together and started in this business?
It was my big fat idea haha, yes my big fat idea. About ten years ago I decided to get back into
music and bought a Korg Karma keyboard and started to write songs. Once I felt I have a album worth
I got in touch with Garry Flint (now my drummer and producer).
We started to record and I decided to bring in a female singer who could handle opera and rock as
well as any other genre I may throw at her. I found Ann on the internet brought her in to sing on
Sungoddess and the rest is history.
Who writes and produces all the material for the band?
I started out writing all the music but for our third CD its becoming more of a band effort, Garry
and I are also the producers.
Has the band played in front of or with any acts our readers would
know from the mainstream?
Ann sang a duet with Glenn Hughes.

Any embarrassing moments on stage?
My keys were set up wrong, it ended up being a very difficult night for me.
Any good stories you want to tell us?
...nothing that might be read, haha!
Who are the band's musical influences?
I can only speak for myself - early Genesis, yes, ELP, world music, classical, and right now
enjoying Porcupine Tree. My influences are early Genesis, Yes, ELP, world music, classical, today
I like Porcupine Tree.
What is your musical background like?
I studied piano.
Any other members in your family that are musicians?
My father was a jazz drummer and I know Garry's mother is a piano teacher and both of Ann's parents
were playing french horn for the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
What is the top reason why you want to play music?
Its a sense of freedom.
What has been your best show?
There has been a few, but I guess maybe Lee's Palace, we had about 300 people turn out. Opera
House would be a close second.
