Any good stories you want to tell us?
|
  |
We played a hometown show not too long ago, and our families came out to support us. About halfway
through our set, Joe throws everyone in the room a curve ball and invites our mothers onstage to do
shots. Obviously they had to do it, and apparently nothing gets a crowd going like a couple of moms
onstage doing shots. Needless to say, that's the last time we give Joe a microphone.

Who are the band's musical influences?
|
  |
As a band our sound is tailored more towards modern rock groups like Breaking Benjamin and RED, but
each member comes from their own broader spectrum of influences that include Metallica, Foo
Fighters, Avenged Sevenfold, and Deftones. The music we create is born from careful integration of
our greatest influences in a manner that is cohesive to the sound that is Crashing Daylight.

What is your musical background like?
|
  |
I picked up the guitar at the age of 13. A neighbor friend of mine wanted to shoot a fake music
video of Sweet Child o' Mine by Guns N' Roses in his garage. Unfortunately the video camera wasn't
working, but from there we decided to form an actual band. The first thing I ever learned was the
riff to Come As You Are by Nirvana. I spent my first two years as a guitarist learning Metallica
riffs and guitar solos, which explains why I have such a large amount of pride for the lead parts I
write for our songs. In spring of 2011 I graduated with an Associates Degree in Music Production,
which has led me to broaden my tastes and discover the more technical aspects of creating music.

Any other members in your family that are musicians?
|
  |
My family doesn't have much of a background in music. Neither of my parents have ever picked up
an instrument in their lives. My brother, however, is a pretty decent drummer, but he doesn't
really keep up with it much nowadays.

What is the top reason why you want to play music?
|
  |
I believe that everyone is looking for their way to leave the world a better place than they found
it. This is my way of doing that. With music I hope to reach more people than I could ever possibly
meet and influence them the way music has influnced me. Whether they're coping with the inevitable
struggles life throws their way or just rocking out on a drive with the windows down, I want to be
that sound that people turn to as the backdrop of their life.

What has been your best show?
|
  |
I would say the best show has been at a venue called Robert's, back in the fall of 2010. It was the
largest draw we've had to date, and it was a great experience to see the entire crowd getting into
the music and really feeling it.
