Poetry Moment:
October's End

Lydia Lowe

Shiver without a jacket
Sweat with a jacket on
Finally tied around my waist

Walk through wind blown, dusty grass
Scuff through leaves with black shoes on
Dust finding the crevices

Raven flies overhead
Settling in on top of
A locked family monument

Wind whips through the Cedar trees
Ruffling Raven's feather's
Inky black bird's mournful call

Uncomfortable twitters
Nervous laughter and dark remarks
By the group of passersby

Macabre cemetery walk
On Halloween afternoon
A tour of tombstones and tragedy
