Interview: CrossFire
What got this band together and started in this business?
Well, we all attend Monroe First UMC in Monroe, Georgia. Justin Cohen (drums) played in the praise
band when I (Austin Dykes) came to the church for the first time. I was asked to join the praise
band; thus Justin and I met. Months later, Justin and I decided to record a few songs together.
They turned out pretty well so we decided to create a band by the name of "CrossFire". After
recording some more songs, we found that another church member, Dalton Young, played bass. He
joined our band and has performed on the last three of our songs. We are currently writing songs
and auditioning for a lead vocalist.
Who writes and produces all the material for the band?
We record all of the material ourselves. I write the guitar riffs and then we all decide on how
each song will be organized (verse, chorus, breakdown, etc)...
Has the band played in front of or with any acts our readers would
know from the mainstream?
Not yet.
Where can people access your music on the web?
The most convenient place would be our Facebook page, which contains our demos (for streaming and
free downloading). From there we can easily contact and be contacted if necessary.
Any embarrassing moments on stage?
Hmmmm... I'd have to say when Dalton's bass guitar strap decided to come off and it created a...
very awkward moment!
Who are the band's musical influences?
Of all the bands that have influenced us individually, as a band, we have been most influenced by
Killswitch Engage, Of Mice and Men, and Woe Is Me (whom Dalton's cousin sings for).
What is your musical background like?
Personally I started off with classic rock like AC/DC and Guns N' Roses. Gradually I got into
heavier music like Avenged Sevenfold and Disturbed, and now I'm where I am today.
Any other members in your family that are musicians?
Surprisingly no!
What is the top reason why you want to play music?
It is the most fun thing that I can think of. Music is one of the most influential things a human
can experience, and being in a band and creating music has been phenomenal and so much fun.
What has been your best show?
We actually are currently in search for a singer so this hasn't been possible yet.
