Interview: Kadanyne

What got this band together and started in this business?

We got together in late winter of 2010 with our current line-up. Our love for music and wanting to people to hear our sound got us started.

Who writes and produces all the material for the band?

Musical arrangements are a collective effort of each member of the band.

Has the band played in front of or with any acts our readers would know from the mainstream?

We have opened for Nigel Dupree, 12 Stones, and had the opportunity to almost open up for Five Finger Death Punch two years in a row.

Where can people access your music on the web?

We have a reverbnation account. www.reverbnation.com/kadanyne. We are also on Facebook. Just search our band name.

Any embarrassing moments on stage?

None really. Our bass player Brad during a gig had his strap button come out of his bass and almost dropped his bass on the ground. He had to hold the bass with his left hand while playing. It was quite an entertaining sight.

Any good stories you want to tell us?

We played in a local competition called "The Battle For Freakers' Ball" which is a competition that features over 100 of Kansas City's greatest bands. Well this year (2011) after placing 2nd, we were walking out to our vehicles and we heard fans of another band saying "And that Kadanyne, I thought they sounded like Europe! Wasn't their last song "The Final Countdown?"

We all just laughed because we in no way resemble Europe!

Who are the band's musical influences?

Our influences vary GREATLY. We know a lot of musicians say that, but ours truly do. Our singer Kale before he became singer of the band, wrote and recorded country music. So a lot of his vocal styles are country, but, he has drastically changed his voice and is one of the best singers in the Kansas City area we believe. The rest of the band is set on a lot of 80's rock and modern rock. Bands like: Breaking Benjamin, Guns N Roses, Red, Three Days Grace, Tool, Mudvayne and the list could go on.

What is your musical background like?

Our musical background varies between each member. Terry has a background in violin and piano. Brad has played bass all of his life. Austin has also played drums for quite a while. Kale has a background in country and rock music.

Any other members in your family that are musicians?

The only person with members of their family in music is Kale, our singer. His father was an aspiring country musician.

What is the top reason why you want to play music?

We want to play music for the same reason anyone plays music. WE FLAT OUT LOVE IT!! If we didn't love it, we wouldn't put our lives on hold to go and do what we do. We just love to perform and we love to see all of our fans out with us supporting us and helping us out.

What has been your best show?

We like to think that every show has been or will be our best show. Our fans make us feel like every show we play is the best!
