Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites
North East, Pennsylvania |

During road trips into the United States, there has always been a constant element in spite of the
varied scenery: lodging by the interstate. We usually play safe by booking rooms as close to an
attraction as possible and get a little bit lost while handling directions. But this marks the
first time we stayed by the highway.

The Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites North East, Pennsylvania is located conveniently on
the north end of an exit on Interstate 90, within a stone's throw from Erie, Pennsylvania, Ohio and
Chautauqua County, New York. A smaller establishment beside a motel, but despite its miniature
amenities, it’s still a capable business hotel.

We chose a suite, as we were accommodating three people in one room with a sofa bed. The room is
straightforward - a smart layout with dark stained cabinets, a modern look at simple beds with a
variety of soft and firm pillows. There’s cable television, a clock radio with iPod input, free
wifi and bathroom products from Bath and Body Works. They really take a step further from just
being your general generic hotel.

Service was more cordial than expected. We asked and got early check-in, and our preliminary
contact with the housekeeping service was almost flattering. Ironically, the linens for the sofa
bed were stuck inside a bag with the zipper missing, so the front desk clerk gladly tore it open.
A creative solution in a creative country which is much appreciated!

Breakfast at this establishment is intimate with a small seating area and a rather sparse selection
(no bacon). But the staff check and restock items frequently including hot items like sausage and
scrambled eggs. In all, this hotel by the interstate is friendly and worth considering.
