Interview: Tim King (of SOiL)
What got this band together and started in this business?
SOiL started as a side project by founding members Tim King, Adam Zadel, and Tom
Schofield. It quickly became a full time band that has been active for twelve
years.
Who writes and produces all the material for the band?
All our music is written by Tim Adam and Tom. The lyrics are written by AJ.
Has the band played in front of or with any acts our readers would
know from the mainstream?
You name it, we played with them: Ozzy, Rob Zombie, Nickelback, Mudvayne,
Static X, Sevendust, Godsmack, Staind, Mushroomhead, et cetera...
Where can people access your music on the web?
Any embarrassing moments on stage?
Too many to list! Falling down always sucks.
Any good stories you want to tell us?
Probably when we were at Dimebag's house and got to play with fireworks and
record some acoustic SOiL songs.
Who are the band's musical influences?
Every guy has their different influences. Some artists in common are
Alice in Chains, Metallica, Life of Agony, COC, Soundgarden.
How did the band get together?
It was formed as a side project to our death metal band "Oppressor".
What is your musical background like?
I have taken piano lessons, played the viola, played upright bass... no real
training on the electric bass.
Any other members in your family that are musicians?
My great grandfather was first chair violinist for the Chicago Symphony
Orchestra.
What is the top reason why you want to play music?
Because I love playing the bass.
What has been your best show?
Download 2006. We played in front of 55,000 in the United Kingdom.
