Interview: Keith Monville (from Time to Kill)

What got this band together and started in this business?

I was looked up by some old friends and we started jamming in the basement. Next thing we know, we released a CD and toured.

Who writes and produces all the material for the band?

On the "Insanity" CD, we all wrote music and either myself (Keith) or the lead singer, Nicole, wrote the lyrics. This CD was recorded at Full Spectrum Studios in Wisconsin and produced by Jazon Z (Turkey Vulture Records). Currently, with the new lineup, we all write the music and either myself, Sandi (Bass/Vocals) or Liz (lead singer) write the lyrics. We will be recording and releasing a CD soon.

Has the band played in front of or with any acts our readers would know from the mainstream?

We have done shows with: Hell Yeah, Machine Head, Non-Point, Bury Your Dead, Kicking K8, Jungle Rot, Weird Al Yankovic, Primer 55, Green Jelly, Mobile Death Camp, Marc Rizzo (Soulfly) and more.

Where can people access your music on the web?

Any embarrassing moments on stage?

Just your typical technical difficulties that happen... I did smash a guitar at a Milwaukee show and a piece of the guitar punctured my hand, and I bled all over.

Any good stories you want to tell us?

Most of our road trips are blurry and forgotten... we performed at a horror convention in Milwaukee and we got hit with flooding and tornadoes... it was an outdoor show. The show went on...

Who are the band's musical influences?

Slayer, Helmet, The Misfits, The Ramones, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Prong...

How did the band get together?

2006 was a year I spent out of the music scene until the end of that year when I got bored and needed to perform again. I contacted the drummer, Paul, and we started jamming and then found a bass player and singer that were friends, and off we went.

What is your musical background like?

I started playing guitar in the late 80s. Played a little bass guitar for a while. In and out a few local bands.

Any other members in your family that are musicians?

No.

What is the top reason why you want to play music?

I always had an interest in music ever since grade school. Got bored and just started listening to it, and needed to make my own. It was my resource to get free beer and women.

What has been your best show?

We played at a venue in Indianapolis called "The Melody Inn". Great smaller club, and great owners. Good atmosphere and one hell of a party.
