Interview: Smoove Gotti |
What got this band together and started in this business?
We have been doing music for a while but we just started my own independent
label I.C. Green Entertainment Ltd. this year in August.
Who writes and produces all the material?
I, Smoove Gotti, write all my own music but we have a couple other writers and
performers on our label such as Polo Tae and Young Bee. We have been finding
different beat makers.
Has the band played in front of or with any acts our readers would
know from the mainstream?
We are just getting our feet wet in the game but we look forward to working with
anybody who wants to make good music and put it out.
Where can people access your music on the web?
My music is everywhere. I have four singles on iTunes, Amazon and Rhapsody.
I am on YouTube (youtube.com/smoovegotti),
and I'm always on Facebook, day and night. I also put a lot of my music on
hotnewhiphop.com
which you can download for free.
Any embarrassing moments on stage?
No, not yet thank god, haha. But I do get really sweaty and thirsty...
Who are the band's musical influences?
My biggest musical influence is my dad. He is an avid collecter of music and I
remember him playing music sipping a beer all the time. He taught me to judge
a person's music by their music and not on their dead on personality. He got me
into R&B and hip hop.
What is your musical background like?
I have been singing since i could remember. I remember back in 8th grade
singing at a play at the state theater in front of my whole school. I started
doing Hip Hop after one of my close friends dropped a local mix tape and it was
very inspiring to me.
Any other members in your family that are musicians?
My father can sing but I wouldn't call him a musician. Sorry dad haha. My
artist on my label are family to me and they do music so Polo Tae, D low, and
Young Bee are my brothers from another mother and they are real musicians.
What is the top reason why you want to play music?
I want to do music because music it is a part of my soul. It has gotten me
through very rough times and happy times and its universal. I do music straight
from my personality. You get little to big pieces of me when you hear my
material. I do music to be felt not to be judged or categorized, but to be
felt. I want people to feel my art.
What has been your best show?
Every show gets better and bigger. They all seem to keep growing and more people
show up and know me. So ask me that question in a year and hopefully I will have
a favorite by then but right now they all are great.
