Interview: Frozen Sword
What got this band together and started in this business?
At the beginning we just wanted to play hard and heavy music. Then the project become more serious: we started to hit the stage and write our own songs. We're still independent: I think that's better to begin in music to be free and to play for YOU and fans.
Who writes and produces all the material for the band?
Each of us write songs! It's why our music is very diversified. Some songs are more heavy, some more powerful, and some more thrashy... all those influences; this is Frozen Sword. Our last production was homemade. This is Arnaud, our guitar player, who took over the sound.
Has the band played in front of or with any acts our readers would know from the mainstream?
We had the chance to play in some festivals with bands like Black Rain, Samael, Eminence and Varg. We hope that we're going to hit the stage with a lot of other artists! Sharing the stage with these guys is really enjoying!
Where can people access your music on the web?
Everywhere... or almost! We have a MySpace page (www.myspace.com/FrozenSwordCH), a Mx3 page - this is a Swiss equivalent of MySpace (www.mx3.ch/artist/frozensword). We just opened a YouTube pages where you could find some live vids and other stuff (www.youtube.com/FrozenSwordCH). And you can also find us on Facebook. There's no music but it's good to keep in touch!
Any embarrassing moments on stage?
Seeing the bass player throwing up on stage... is that embarassing?
Any good stories you want to tell us?
The good stories we could tell you are from all gigs! Every trip is different and we always had a lot of remember of that! Personnally one of the best is playing on the backgroud of a valley, in the asshole's world, seeing a amazing landscape with a beautiful sunset and playing Rock'n Roll louder than hell on fesival! That was great!
Who are the band's musical influences?
The band's musical influences are in the Hard'n Heavy stream! Bands like Manowar, Metallica, Iced Earth, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and many more!
How did the band get together?
In 2007 we played our first gigs with our own songs. At the end of that year we decided to record our song on a demo. In 2008, "A Journey Through the Death" was released. Now, two years later we had the opportunity to play throughout Switzerland but we won't stop now. Keep in touch for more news from the band!
Any other members in your family that are musicians?
We all have parents, a cousin or an uncle who taught us music. By listening or by playing! Personally my father listened to a lot of blues and rock and roll.
What is the top reason why you want to play music?
Because music is better than football... and we aren't good at football! Is that a good reason?
What has been your best show?
Beaux-Sites Bar! There was a great atmosphere, fire and smoke! WE played it louder than we could and people showed their appreciation!
