Interview: E-Man

What got you started in this business?

First off just the love of music. I grew up on hip-hop but I also listen to other genres. Good music is good music no matter what catagory you try to put it under. Also I've experienced a lot in my still young life and I think I have stories to share that people can relate to.

Who writes and produces all your material?

I write all my music. I'm versitile so I work with more than one producer. Mostly BTP, Illmuzik, and in the near future Chad Banks.

Have you played in front of or with any acts our readers would know from the mainstream?

I opened for Too $hort in Missouri back in October. It was only my second show but I wasn't nervous at all. I was amped for the opportunity to open for one of the artists I grew up listening to. It's funny because other performers at the show stayed in VIP during his set like it wasn't a big deal. I was in the crowd gettin krunk.

Where can people access your music on the web?

My official website theofficialeman.webs.com, my Facebook page facebook.com/theofficialemanfb, and at reverbnation.com/theofficialeman.

Any embarrassing moments on stage?

My first show at Aggiefest I stepped on my mic cord and unpluged it. But I kept it moving. Turned out to be a better show than I thought it would be.

Who are your musical influences?

Tupac, Rakim, Outkast, Biggie, Jay-Z, 8Ball & MJG, Chamillionaire, BONE Thugs-N-Harmony, 3-6 Mafia, UGK, T.I...

What is your musical background like?

Life. I wrote alot of spoken word poetry in high school that turned into raps but I think the greatest songs come from just living life. It's easy to write a song about nothing but a true artist can paint you a picture.

Any other members in your family that are musicians?

My mom sang in the church choir, and my dad plays the bass guitar.

What is the top reason why you want to play music?

Like I said before the love for music. I would not be doing it if I didn't love it.

What has been your best show?

The show with Too $hort because it has been my biggest to so far. But stay tuned.
