Any good stories you want to tell us?

Hmm... I recently released my EP "Don't Turn on the Light" - it was an incredible sold out night with standing room only. In order to sell out the venue though, I did a ton of advertising and marketing. One of my ideas to promote the show was to make a bunch of flyers, stuff them in envelopes dressed like personalized invites and put them in mailboxes. I probably put out over 400 invites.

What I didn't know, is that it's completely illegal to do that. I was contacted on Facebook by a fan that had received my mailbox invite. She was freaked out because she thought I knew where she lived even though we'd never met. I of course apologized and assured her I had no idea where she lived. That's when she told me it was against the law to put things in people's mailboxes. I was surprised to hear that so I googled it.

Turns out is very illegal. I was so scared about having broken the law that I drove myself to the police station and turned myself in. I was crying and worried - a general mess. The police officer that took my confession let me sweat it a little; grilled me about the volume and date of my offense. Eventually she laughed and told me it was okay, just warned not to do it again. That was the closest I'd ever been to being a real "bad girl."

Who are your musical influences?

I'm really inspired by the fun and powerful sounds of Classic Rock as well as the emotional vocals and unique piano lines of Sara Bareilles. I aspire to blend my sound with different aspects of both Sara and the Classic Rock legends.

What is your musical background like?

I've been a musician since third grade. I learned to play the clarinet in elementary school and continued my classical study through college. I eventually dropped the clarinet because it really wasn't what I wanted to be known for. I wanted to be known for my singing, writing and creative abilities - so I made the leap into becoming a singer/songwriter.

Any other members in your family that are musicians?

Not so much anymore. My mother had my two sisters and I learn an instrument, but I'm the only one that really stuck with it.

What is the top reason why you want to play music?

Because it's fun! I LOVE music! If I could make music every day I would be the happiest girl in the world! I am so thankful to have a medium that appreciates raw emotion put to sound. Music is the best way to express yourself. It sets the mood of the songwriter. If I'm happy or feeling lovey dovey... or sad, I write about it. A sad song sounds sad... it conveys my emotion to the listener who is hopefully able to identify with some part of that.

What has been your best show?

Probably my EP Release. It was a packed night - tons of fans, lots of energy and great feedback. I had such a great time! The crowd was amazing, my band sounded amazing and we sold over 100 CDs that night. I couldn't have asked for a better show!
