Interview: Kirk from ZombieShakerBox
What got this band together and started in this business?
I used to sing for a lot of bands growing up. I moved out west and wanted to write a CD based on
some of the experiences I have had. I then got a call from Cory (bassist) He asked me if I would
like to form a band. I of course said yes and that went to winning the battle of the bands in
Vegas. The Vegas Rocks Awards and the LA Music Awards. We then got a deal with Head First
Entertainment (Dave Tedder) who got us into Best Buy, Zia, CD Baby and a digital deal with Orchard.
He has been great.

Who writes and produces all the material for the band?
I wrote and produced most of the material with the help of some great players. Not really because I
wanted to, but, it was just pretty much me to start so I went for it. I love producing and building
a song...
Has the band played in front of or with any acts our readers would
know from the mainstream?
Yeah we have all opened for bands like Godsmack, Hell yeah, I opened up for some big bands a while
ago as well. I started a band with Lizzy Borden bassist called Legacy and am still writing with him
today.

Where can people access your music on the web?
You can go to zombieshakerbox.com or myspace.com/zombieshakerbox or
zombieshakerbox on Facebook and ReverbNation.
Any embarrassing moments on stage?
Too many to count sadly enough, haha. I remember one time in particular I was rockin out and went
right off the stage into the crowd. Just had my sunglasses on and couldn't see the edge of the
stage. Oops. Yeah I fall down a lot.
Any good stories you want to tell us?
Well I think one that stands out is how we got the name. I was working with a buddy of mine (a total
stoner) I could not find him and went around to the garage and he had this box he kept shaking. I
said "what is that?" and he said "a zombie shaker box". It was full of weed and kind of sifted it
through little screens. I didn't care so much about that but I loved the name.
