Dear Leanne,
It has been two days since I arrived on that inevitable plane bound from Toronto.
Sitting in this lonely cold hotel room, I have recieved two absolutely different views of what
a hotel room should look like. In fact, I find the differences between the two quite different,
and the outcomes very surprising.
Hong Kong has always been known as a small city (in terms of land). Some hotels provide the
best of comofrts, and I arrived at an interesting little boutique hotel called "The Bridal
Tea House". I had come with an open mind, and left with disappointment due to a flurry of
disappointments that culminated in one big giant blah.
When I went to my hotel room at first, I assumed it was a closet. Actually, it WAS the size of
a closet from back home, but then I saw a bed. They probably have made wall stands
for new televisions because of the ability of its installation within small spaces.
The day after I squeezed out of the Bridal Tea House in Hong Kong, I crossed the border into a
relatively cosmopolitan city in Mainland China called Shenzhen. At first, I was a little nervous
due to the uncertain future, but I have grown quite used to the hurried life of this
developing Chinese city.
My stay in Shenzhen so far has been much more... "posh". There are very good amentities here,
the room layout is beautiful, and I even get my own room. We'll see what happens.
Sincerely,
Phil
