The legacy of wisdom

Frank Cotolo

Over the years and through the woods I have been privileged to hear many pearls of wisdom from likely and unlikely sources. All of these insightful yet brief ingots of pure thought have led to my own, which I now am ready to share with others. Please feel free to pass on these sprinkles of smartness and remember where you read them.

When all is said and done, how many breaths you took will not compare with how many breaths were wasted by inhaling cigars.

When life offers many ways to cry, think of something funny, like a guy slipping on a banana peel and flying for a moment before landing on the ground. That never gets old enough not to make a person laugh.

Don't go for looks because looks are deceiving. Nor should you go for wealth because it may disappear as quickly as it arrived. But put the two together and you have a worthwhile search.

Dream of what you may do that will make you do whatever you want to do but be sure you are not driving an auto at the time.

Telling your problems to anyone is useless. Most of them don't care and the rest are the cause of them.

Don't look back in misery, nor look back in despair, just look forward and be glad if you still have hair.

Advice is that which we already know deep down inside but don’t want to tell ourselves because we cannot afford to pay ourselves two hundred bucks an hour.

When one door closes, you are probably in a manmade structure.

Live without excuses and be sure to have evidence if you blame anyone for anything.

Don't live your life as if you need an umbrella to walk in the rain; get a hat.

Yesterday is history. Today is now. Tomorrow will soon be today and today is certain to become tomorrow. But then it begins again, yesterday, today and tomorrow, and before you know it, you're toast.
