Twitter as a tool

Recently, a wise Wall Street investor was asked about Twitter's value as a company, based on its commercial usage. He promised we could interview him for our blog as long as we did not mention his name because, he said, if he turns out to be wrong, he doesn't want to be identified as an idiot.

US: What's the best way to use Twitter to make money?

HIM: It's tough because the Internet already has Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Instagram and other means of communicating with a public.

US: What's the best way to use Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Instagram to make money?

HIM: That is off topic. Let's stick to Twitter.

US: So you are saying there is no way to make money using Twitter?

HIM: No, I am not saying that at all. I mean that it is a good promotional tool but not a sales ring.

US: Are Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat and Instagram sales rings?

HIM: That is off topic. Let's stick to Twitter.

US: What if a person or a company or a product has a zillion followers? With that many viewers, the person or company or product could sell a lot even with a small percentage of the followers purchasing.

HIM: If we look at the numbers for Twitter subscribers, we see that only one percent of all accounts have more than three thousand followers and the median number of followers is sixty one.

US: I don't think any of my followers are that age.

HIM: That was a number of people not the age of people.

US: But I have over two hundred followers.

HIM: I said the average is sixty-one.

US: Are you saying that buying stock in Twitter won't result in making any money?

HIM: I cannot tell the future but I think Twitter is going to have trouble expanding.

US: You mean it will have trouble allowing tweets over a hundred and forty characters?

HIM: No, I mean as a company that could make money.

US: If you could look into the future, do you think tweets would be longer?

HIM: That's not the point. Making tweets longer is not going to make Twitter a successful company.

US: Can we continue this in our next blog because if you look below you will see we are running out of room.

HIM: All right, just ask more pertinent questions.

US: It's a deal.
