Every civilized country, even the United States, passes laws that are so weird they are rarely enforced but not always ignored. Over the decades I have collected many of these laws and here are some from around the world.

In Rome, Italy, there is a law that prohibits any mail sent to Rome, N.Y., USA.

No one is allowed to carry a bellows during Lent in Deadhorse, Arkansas.

Whipped cream may only be sold on the third Thursday of each month in Hazardville, Connecticut.

Wuhan, China hands out stiff fines to any person of any age that eats from a helmet when walking a dog.

Magicians must register with the Department of Lost and Found in What Cheer, Iowa.

Under penalty of a designated public humiliation, a public official of Abidjan, Ivory Coast, is not allowed to whistle passing a graveyard.

Yokohama, Japan, fines anyone caught wrapping a live fish in a birth certificate.

It is now illegal to pick one's nose in Piccadilly Circus, London, England.

Tourists are not allowed in Bear Dance, Montana.

In Calgary, Alberta, Canada, it is illegal to place raw steak on a bruise, even if it is resting inside of a shirt.

If three people are strolling together in Happy Corner, New Hampshire, each must hold another one's hand when crossing the street or renting a bike.

No resident of Burns Down, South Carolina, may run for public office if he or she ever slept with pancakes.

Designated jail time will be the penalty in Accident, Maryland, to any person caught impersonating a fireman.

It is illegal, except on Tuesdays, to ask anyone in public any question regarding a word needed to complete a crossword puzzle.
