The Hollywood tradition of sequels will never die. This coming year will prove that not only are sequels still popular but a trend is arising as productions ensue on sequels dealing with second generation characters. Thanks to my connections in the film industry, I offer brief notes on the new trend for sequels now in script development.

SON OF SCROOGE

The famous Christmas character's son learns of his father's history and begins to badmouth the holiday. When he wins a seat in Parliament, he campaigns to make it illegal, causing riots.

SON OF EMMA

Jane Austin's cherished character had a boy late in her life and died in childbirth. After a series of mishaps, the boy is lost in the jungle and raised by orangutans.

SON OF CAPTAIN PHILLIPS

A son of the famous ship captain known for defying modern-day pirates goes undercover as a modern-day pirate to murder all of the modern-day pirate captains.

SON OF THE DEPARTED

Bastard son of Frank Costello tries to clear the family name by teaming up with a straight man named Bart Abbott to form a comedy team.

SON OF THE REVENANT

Even though the original film was about a hunt for a revenant, it turns out there is another son of the man looking for the revenant and he does not want to be found by his son, who searches for him.

SON OF BIRDMAN

The daughter of the actor who played Birdman has a son born with with the unfortunate features of a parakeet.

SON OF GLADIATOR

Though the first six drafts of this film do not explain that as it turns out, the son of The Spaniard gladiator character in the original movie did not die by hanging. He has grown and moved to Greece, where he has become an actor. When he accepts a major role as a gladiator from a script written by Greece's top playwright, Neil Simonopolis, he discovers a natural talent for comedy.
