Fans of professional sports are about as different from fantasy-sports fans as the concepts themselves. We talked with a few fervent fans of the imaginary sports world (first names only) to come up with a profile.

Eddie: Like it gives you a sense of authority to use the flesh-and--blood players in fake teams because you can build better fake teams than the real ones because it doesn't matter when it's fake.

Sidney: Pro sports are not as exciting as make believe sports because you can make real money from make believe sports. Sure, you can bet on pro sports but when you manage a better fake team than there are real teams, why bother?

Madison: I go one step further and imagine my fantasy players - I'm into fantasy football - are all single men. Then I can imagine crazy times in the locker room. Get me? I mean fantasy covers a lot of stuff.

Reggie: I was married when I got into fantasy sports and I made my wife a manager of one of my hockey teams. It gave me the pleasure of firing her when the team tanked.

Donnie: I like fantasy better than reality in all sports and, in fact, in most of life.

Fred: Last season I made six figures in fantasy sports and I didn't have to pay one penny to the fake version of the egotistic overpaid real players. F--- them.

Gilbert: I have fantasy teams in baseball, football, hockey, basketball, tennis, polo, track, soccer and that English game where the guys hug and squeeze each other and use their fists. I own twenty-seven TVs and I rarely leave my man cave, which is in my mother's basement. What of it?

Sam: There is no greater feeling than seeing a player you own hit a home run in pro sports when it means more to your fantasy team than it does to the actual team. It makes me feel superior to the actual professional players, as well as my family and friends.
