I worked as his assistant, he being Reggie Von Wethersbury, the Skeptical Psychic, for fifteen
years during the greatest time of his success whenever called upon by police detectives.
One of my first adventures with him was the case of the Coach Killer, a murderer of men leading
sports teams. After a score of murders the detectives were stumped and turned to Reggie.
"What artifacts do you have?" Reggie asked a detective.
"Just this candy wrapper that we know was his."
With tenderness and a tissue I handed the wrapper to Reggie. "This is chocolate," Reggie said, "but
he may like Rum Raisen better. And then again someone could have given him the chocolate even
though he may have wanted strawberry. Not sure. And, he used his left index finger, or middle
finger, to hold the wrapper. Then again, he could have used his mouth to open it if he had
gloves on."
The detective said, "Do you have any idea why he would murder sports coaches?"
"Maybe it's a coincidence," I said.
The detective said, "Shut up, you're not the psychic here. Tell us Reggie, is there a connection
between a candy wrapper and sports coaches in this case?"
