Even more states that I love

As you all know, at least all of you that read this column or know me personally, I have been all over the United States, from east to west and from north to south. Now, once again, I am going to write about some of the states where I have been which are states I love. These will be random remembrances but I know you will like them, especially if you live in any of these states.

Alaska is one of the last states to unite with the others in the great United States of America. I was there before and after it was a state and let me tell you that it has changed since becoming a state. Still, it was a place I loved before it was a state and then it was a state I loved. So I am not bias. Once, before it was a state, I bought a few Huskies and rode across the tundra. It was a tough journey until I bought a sled.

After it became a state I helped organize the libraries of its legislature so that it was placed alphabetically correct in the list of states of America. That was a fun job because I was able to use my alphabetic knowledge and hit on all the pretty Alaskan gals that became Americans.

Mississippi was a state that, oddly enough, I had to spell correctly for many people that lived there. One long-time resident of Mississippi complained to me that there should be an easier spelling of the state for people like him, which are people that have completed grade school by the time they were seventeen. But he was rare because I found many people living in Biloxi who could spell the name of the state with no problem and just complained that an X was in the title of their city's name.

Speaking of X, I always thought there should be a state that began with the letter X. Why didn't we use X at the beginning of the state named Ohio? Xohio would have been such a better name.

North Carolina is a great state and I love it. Twice in North Carolina I won a steeplechase race without riding a horse.

California is like ten states but they never broke it up so I goes mostly up the Pacific Ocean coastline by itself. When I lived in southern California I thought northern California was a foreign country because it was so far away and places in the same state shouldn't be so far away, even if Carole King wants to use the phrase in a song.

Nevada, on the other hand, is one big sandbox and there is a lot to play in it. Because there are so many things legal in Nevada that are illegal in other states, I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really love Nevada. I learned to shoot a revolver in Nevada. Once, I even went to a shooting range. That desert is ominous, however. I hear many bodies are buried in that desert but no one wants to go out in the heat of the day or dark of the night to find them.
