Interview: Downsiid (Page 2)

Continued from this page.

Any good stories you want to tell us?

b.rich: So many but not enough room. Let's just say we had some great times and we're your typical rock and roll band haha...

Who are the band's musical influences?

Musical influences for Downsiid range from old 80s metal bands like Motley Crue, Guns and Roses to todays nu-metal/hardcore and hip-hop... we love it all.

What is your musical background like?

Our background in music is  real broad... String is just musically gifted and trained at singing and rapping (which a lot of people dont know). Spanish comes from a hardcore/death metal background, b.rich and G.dell, old school rock n roll. DJ Akira MC comes from a hip-hop world where djing and mcing were a must and nowadays still spins hip-hop/dance and dubstep. Joe Clinard is definitely what we call a modern day musician where his influences are more of the nu-metal and hardcore. Combined we make Downsiid.

Any other members in your family that are musicians?

b.rich: No one in my family was ever a musician but we always loved music in general. These days we are proudly passing on our musical ventures to our kids.

What is the top reason why you want to play music?

b.rich: Top reason for me to play music is simple. I love to see and hear peoples reaction and make them love something myself and my band has created. Nothing beats that feeling.

What has been your best show?

b.rich: We have done many great shows but I have two in particular that stand out. One: As a kid I always wanted to play the Whiskey A-Go-Go (who didn't right?) - we finally did and stepped on the stage that our idols stepped on. Most amazing feeling ever.

Two: When Roy Z called us last december and asked us (Downsiid) to perform with the metal god himself Bob Halford @ The House of Blues in Dallas, what can be better than that. It's the metal god and did I mention we had to share a dressing room with Dave Lombardo of Slayer? Amazing by far.
