Interview: ALUNA

What got this band together and started in this business?

Nick: I have been writing songs my whole life and needed the band behind me to make them rock songs. Rock on the acoustic is cool, but way better when you have the electric guitar, bass, and drums all pumping out heavy-ness.

Who writes and produces all the material for the band?

Nick: The older songs we play I wrote on my own. The newer material is worked on as a collaborative effort by the band.

Has the band played in front of or with any acts our readers would know from the mainstream?

Nick: We opened for the Lost Colors who have opened for Brian Welch, so that's where our mainstream is at.

Adam: It seems that's what happens when you are a band that picks up steam quickly - it's like you don't have the resume but you have the skills. The important thing is that we put on a show every listener will remember every time we go out!

Where can people access your music on the web?

Nick: We have a few websites, all the world needs is more websites, but they are - Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/alunamusic1) - which is our main site, and Reverbnation (http://www.reverbnation.com/alunamusic).

Any embarrassing moments on stage?

Nick: There was one show we played where the lights at the front of the stage were set pretty low. We use jump boxes on the front of the stage, so basically me standing on them equaled me hitting my head pretty good. No blood but it happened a few times. I get into the music and lose myself and am not always aware of my surroundings.

Adam: We were playing a benefit show out in Lee's Summit, MO at a bar one time. The sound guy did a good job setting the volumes before the show. But when we played, he had accidentally knocked down the bass volume. I corrected by turning up my stage volume... Well, turns out the knob is pretty touchy and it got a little louder than I meant to make it. The sound guy comes flying out of his booth and to the stage to correct the problem as I was in the middle of the song. He over corrected and nearly turned me all the way off – I had to finish the song by feel until we could get the bass volume back to a good level.
